He threw darts at paint-filled balloons, with the subsequent explosion creating a layered effect on the canvas which was creating ripples in the art community at the time.

Heading on over to a close friend's house who had been mass interested in the whole idea, we quickly set about creating the masterpiece I now call explosion art.
It proved much harder than we originally thought, especially trying to get some serious pressure into the balloons to blow them up with the paint still inside them. I may have tried to blow a balloon up, and then attempt to put the paint inside .. those who actually can understand the only logical conclusion to what happened will understand how I got paint all over my face hahaha.
That said, despite how hard it was initally we did complete what we set out to do! Rather than exploding, the balloons decided to 'bleed' over the canvas which made it eventually look like fireworks had exploded over the canvas. It ended up being great fun, firstly actually getting the dart to pierce the balloon seemed like a massive achievement; which then led to the spraying of paint everywhere
After we'd created what can only be described as a masterpiece of modern art (with an extremely loose definition of masterpiece being used) we decided to get our hand's properly dirty and indulge in a bit of finger painting .. with the canvas being each others faces :)
