With all this free time now on my hand, I've been able to delve into some scripture lately and man, has it been rewarding. I can't believe the World has been led to believe that Christian's are somehow passionless and boring, not with the sheer strength of examples in the Bible.
They only need to look into Acts, and look at the deeds of my main man Paul, to see the extremities that Christian's have gone through to preach the good news.
This man was THE man back in the day. Whatever you have; he had more. However blessed you were, he was more. However powerful and influential you think you are; he was considered higher. Yet without Christ, he considered these things worthless (Phillipians 3:4-8)
The only description that comes close to fully encompassing how passionate this man is the word hardcore, because that's how he lived his life. Indomitable in his pursuit of letting people know of Jesus, he carried on through so many things that would cowe most people's spirits. Formerly a prominent Jew, he preached Christianity wherever he went; from such varied locations as Jewish synagogues to the time he spent incarcerated in Jail.
For mine, the example that personifies Paul and his spirit is his 'adventure' in Lystra. Preaching the Gospel, his past caught up with him; with Jews coming from Antioch and Iconium (the most recent places that Paul and his mate, Barnabas, had preached) to stir up trouble for a man who was threatening their lofty position within the community.
Having persuaded the crowds, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead. But when the disciples gathered about him, he rose up and entered the city, and on the next day went on with Barnabas to Derbe. (Acts 14:19-20)
Now, I don't know about you .. but after that kind of experience I'd want to lick my wounds and lay low for a while. Not Paul, he just got up and kept preaching. What a man. I literally run out of superlatives when trying to describe how awesome and awe-inspiring he must of been in the flesh.
Amazing.
That's all for today, but stay tuned for some more blogging once I get my hands on some photo's taken during recent exploits.
Stay real.
1st John 2:6 - Those who claim to live in christ, must walk as Jesus did.
